I for one think that the most important reason we have so many break ups in marriages is lack of communication. Where there is no communication, other problems will begin to arise. Another reason is lack of understanding. If couples dont understand each other, they begin to read meanings to everything thier partner says or does and that can cause a gap and an eventual break up.

people are into having the wedding ceremony/reception and not thinking long term about the marriage itself.
some people settle because they don't think they can do better, and then they realize it too late that they COULD have done better.
lack of communication
lack of sex (possibly with the communication problems)
lack of understanding/nurturing
lack of help around the house and with the children
online gaming (I'm not talking an hour here or there, I'm talking 65+ hours a week....)
lack of interests
lack of respect for one another
lack of job or unwillingness to work and having to work your butt off because of the other person being lazy
lack of personal hygiene
constant criticism
constant sarcasm
constant nagging
*just a few ideas. I'm sure that there are more!

Some many people do not take the commitment seriously. They look for the easy way out. Marriage is hard work and it takes communication, respect, trust....and of course, love. Apparently, they do not have that in their relationship.

Because people marry without knowing much about their partners. Good sex is the priority! Everyone is sweet and caring when screwing around, the true self shows when they get married. To avoid this it is must not to sleep together for at least a year while you are getting to know the your partner. If that they can wait that long while being honest and faithful then there is a much brighter chance for a successful marriage.

The main reason behind broken marriages is that they do not wait on God's plan. And the second is lack of LOVE which is very essensecial. If we have God in us, we wil have love in us. It will make you lead a good married life. Read Bible you will find all the answers.

One or both of you start to lose interest in the relationship or a distance grows between you. It's sad really. It seems that people tend to take the "easy" way out (divorce) instead of trying to make marriage work.

I think the two sexes disagree on many things and the whole mate for life scenario does not seem too appealing to men

BECAUSE IT IS TOO EASY TO DIVORCE NOWADAYS. PEOPLE DON'T TAKE THEIR WEDDING VOWS SERIOUSLY ENOUGH ANYMORE, IN MY OPINION. MANY PEOPLE GO INTO MARRIAGE WITH THE IDEA THAT, "WELL, IF IT DOESN'T WORK OUT, THEN WE'LL JUST GET A DIVORCE". AND THEY DO. IT'S SAD.
