After WWII the Korean War started and there were two aircrafts that participated in the war and one can say that they became the trademark of this war. The first one was:

1. The MiG 15 was the first successful swept-wing jet fighter and had a huge success in the Korean war literally prevailing in the skies and causing a great deal of problems to the USAF. For more information you can go here

2. The second aircraft was the F-86 Sabre which was used by the USAF to replace the F-80 and Gloster Meteor that had previously failed to prevail over the superior MiG15. The Sabre was a transonic combat aircraft which had many advantages but also disadvantages compared to MiG15. For more information see here:

the real development in aircraft was the jet turbine engine based on designs from the german ME-2 which worked but was never implemented due to the supply and resource crunch at the time in germany hitler thought it was better for a ground based war
