Hi well this all depends how bad the dislocation was and also how bably tou tore the ligament.Dislocations can take anything up to 2 mths to heal properly, and the ligament which surrounds the finger can take anything from 6-8wks,you have to remember when you dislocate any bones they are all surrounded by ligaments, tissue, muscle so all off these have to get bck to the way they wore before you injured your finger so it will take time im affraid.Rest the finger as much as possible, and see you gp if not getting no better in a mth or so.Good Luck

Hands tend to heal pretty quickly. Proportionally they have a good blood supply and the ligaments ane not very big.

Keep it strapped for a few days while the initial inflammation does it's job and then try to keep it moving. This will improve the tissue healing by encouraging fluid exchange and scar tissue reabsorption. It's more about MOBILITY than ACTIVITY so take it easy for at least 4 weeks. If it starts to bother you again, strap it to the finger next to it during activity, but leave it unstrapped when resting.

Soft tissues will take about 3 weeks to heal but expect your finger to still be swollen. You should be able to use your finger within 6 weeks of the injury provided you had proper treatment.
