2.Does a hd tv improve the resolution of dvds when played on a standard dvd player?
I have an xbox 360 and was thinking of buying a hd dvd add on which microsoft plans to release soon.

3.Will a hd tv do the job rather than spending more money on the hd dvd add on?

1) No.
The graphics will look exactly the same.
Even if your TV claims to "Up Convert" standard TV (SDTV) all it will be doing is interpolation (guessing) at the information that will go between the pixels of the PS2 signal to make it the same size as a HD signal. Everything will look just as lame. But if you have a 360 why are you playing on your PS2..?

2) No, but do buy a HD-DVD.
DVDs have SD resolutions (number of pixels) and often have really shoddy compression that looks aweful on big TVs.
HD-DVDs have much better picture quality (more pixels) and less compression.
HD-DVD and DVD are not the same technology.
Again you can "Up Convert" DVDs to play on your HD TV but the result will not be as good as true HD.

3) No.

HD TV can help on some PS2 games - but it also depends on the type of cable between the PS2 and the TV.

HDTV can make normal DVDs look a bit better, but not much.

HDDVD will look sooo much better. Spend the money dude or wait for PS3 and go BluRay
