It used to be believed that only gays wore an ear ring in the right ear. And I did believe this. BUT in today's age I think either ear is acceptable. I have two in my left ear, but none in my right. Go with what your are comfortable with.
torskie doesn't have a clue as to what he/she is saying. I have no problems with gays or lesbians. And as I said I proudly wear two ear rings in my left ear. BUT there is not a bit of gay in me.
So to torskie I'll say this. It is better to be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

It doesn't matter so much any more becuase many men of both persuations have pierced both ears. However gay men still very proudly cling to wearing a right ear-ring. It would not stop a female from attempting to decifer your preference if you had a right ear-ring but acted straight.
