Do not meet him face to face unless you take a friend with you and then it must be in a very public place. You have no idea what sort of person he is. How old are you? If under 18 do not even go under these circumstances.

Well, be careful, very very careful with ANYONE you meet online. Second, be yourself. If you really like this guy, you're going to want him to like you for who you are, so there's no an issue for why you 'changed'.
Make sure he knows what you really look like. If you've given him fake photos (and some morons have done that), tell him the truth immediately, because he's not going to appreciate not being able to find you, just to be approached by, what is, in his mind, the wrong person.
Make sure and take protection. If you're going out, that could mean alcahol and impared judgement. You've never met this person before, and even if he seems nice, you cannot afford to just 'trust' someone when they say 'oh I'm definitely clean, I got checked a year and a half ago'.
Make him pay. Or at least pay half. The way to know if he's quality or not is if he'll pay for himself AND for you. If he goes 'Oh ****, I forgot my wallet', then you pretty much know he's NOT worth a second date. The only thing he would be worth is that handy little 'IGNORE' button on the messenger.
And most important: Have a freaking blast.

If you do go(which i think is a bad choice) bring ppl and be extremly careful!! make sure your near a place with ppl all around also
