Does your partner smoke?

Are you a man or a woman? Do you smoke? Did you start smoking before you got married? Did you get into smoking because your partner smokes?

My husband and I both smoke. He's a heavy smoker and I am a light smoker.
I smoked before I even knew him, so he's not to blame.

A woman. I used to be a chain smoker - started many years before I met my partner. He used to be a heavy smoker, too (for over ten years), but had quit before we met each other. I'd cut down on cigarettes remarkably since I met him - from two packets a day to two or three cigarettes a day! and for the last five months I haven't smoked at all as we are expecting a baby next spring :) I've just read some of the posts above and felt like adding a comment. It's not true that smokers' babies are mentally retarded or handicapped - as is often the case with alcohol or drug addicted parents. It's just more likely that a smoker's baby would be somewhat underweight. Anyway, I wanted to be perfectly healthy and do anything I could so that our baby would be fine. It wasn't as difficult as I expected; maybe because for the last two years I had smoked only a few cigarettes a day - I never missed having at least one, however ;) I don't miss it much now and I owe a great deal to my partner's support and appreciation :)

My partner doesnt smoke but i do. I was smoking when i met him, he never gets on to me for smoking but i have cut down a hell of a lot over the past few months. Not for him but my children have started learning about the effects of smoking and they are getting on at me.

well my husband does. he was smoking before we got married. on and off. he quits for a month then goes back on it. am fed up with keep bugging him to quit even before we got married which was a month ago. so i given up. am not gonna say anything anymore. he smokes 5 a day. it may not be many to people, but still its a cigrette, still not good for you.
he has asthma, and hasnt smoke since the nurse told him to quit. its only been 1 week.
one thing about my husband, he will never listen to me. he'll do it if someone else says. so am not gonna tell him anymore. he can do what he likes, as he said to me "who am i to stop him from doing what he wants"
