Cats are independent and will do what they want, regardless. Short of duct tape, I suggest you make the bed as welcoming as possible. Put it in a tucked away corner of the room where you want him to sleep. Then, you want to add a watch so the ticking will remind the kitten of his mom's heartbeat. I've been told it's comforting to them.

Lastly, remember, cats are nocturnal so it won't be unusual for the kitten to be up all night playing and sleeping all day.

Cats are naturally nomadic (and superior to us two-legged folk). They like a varied environment with lots of places to 'nap'.

Since you are merely the 'human', it's up to you to provide for the whims of your 'employer'. That's the way it is in this house.

Remember, to a dog, you are the leader of the pack. To a cat, you are merely 'household staff'.
