I think it's a good thing. EastEnders needs to revive and renew to improve its storylines and bring in fresh audiences. Pauline was never a character that would make you switch on to watch the show. Her character had become incredibly one dimensional and as her original family left the show, she didn't seem to connect with the rest of the show.
I understand there was some off screen rivalry between her and Barbara Windsor, which is why you never see them at any awards ceremonies together.

Sonia and Pauline were arguing ... unfortunatly her beloved fruit bowl got smashed ..... Sonia slapped Pauline (yay) Pauline was walking to the Queen Vic .... and did her best piece of acting ever and fell to the floor after suffering a brain haemorrage.

As in real life, people do die you know, and Eastenders has the most miserable story lines ever, why cannot the writers input abit of laughter and a character that people can relate to as a happy person with a happy disposition that infects the rest of the characters something that us phelbs can smile at and wish.

I'll be glad to get rid of her. With her attitude I'm surprised anybody talks to the miserable cow in the Square. I've also heard Wendy Richard is equally pleasant in real life. I also find it amazing that only Martin and Sonia slag her off either to her face or behind her back. I reckon in real life everybody would be slagging her off in the Square and not only that, spreading malevolent rumours about Arthur and Mark's deaths and Michelle's getting as far away as possible from her. (I know that infecting Mark with AIDS would be a little bit far-fetched for Pauline to do, but with the hatred she should foster wherever she goes, who cares about a little thing like logic?)

Fab news.
I'm surprised she's lasted this long actually. If I was Martin Fowler I would have bumped her off years ago....

It is sad because she's been in it for so long but let's face it, her character has the personality of an old dish cloth and she's one green wig away from an oompa loompa with that "you know you've been tango'd" skin colour!
