It's random. some people get it regularly, some get it all the time (al day, ewww) some get it only when they are hungry, and yes, you could get it one day and not the next. you could get it once a week even.

Morning sickness unfortunatley can happen anytime of the day not just mornings. It doesnt have to be a regular pattern for mornings either some days you could feel okay. My midwife told me that the best way to combat this was to eat a rich tea biscuit before getting out of bed so that the stomache was not empty. Old wifes tale maybe but it worked when i was carrying my daughter.

Morning sickness is tricky! It's always changing and what worked to help you one day won't work the next. I was very lucky to not have much morning sickness at all, but in my second trimester when all was great, I had one horrible day of sickness after eating split pea soup. It looked like the movie Exorcist! Good luck!

it can happen any day and anytime not just morning.
as it happens usually first thing in the morning as the baby is disturbed this is why its called morning sickness.
i have had 3 kids and my wife was sick at all different times and different days, some days were better than others. every person is unique so just take it easy and as it comes.
goodluck!
