it is safe but watch out for the drunk saudis every Thursdays and Fridays!!
Of course women can work there. Women are treated as 2nd category or citizens after men.
descent dresses are accpeted. Bra is a must.
as for the ambiance, Bahrain is a big prostitution area for Saudi Arabian; that s why they have a long bridge between the 2 countries, so watch out!

bahrain is a small, arabic and muslim country,it's growing very quickly like all gulf countries
women there are respected, nobody will prive u from ur rights! u can travel, wear what ever u want, eat whatever u want...
however, i would suggest you to read more about them traditions and religion, because as you are going to live there, it's good to respect them traditions and beliefs
i want to inform you that they will allow u to wear whatever u want as u are foreigner, but u should not wear something very sexy, i mean, try to cover the most of ur body, don't wear very short skirts...of course with all modern clothes u like, jeans, t-shirls, shirts....
don't worry, u will like it
women are educated in the capital city, the most of them speak english and go to school then uni sometimes they travel for studies..
let me tell u that bahrain jewels are one of the most famous in the middle east and in the world, so so beautiful and precious, but expensive as well
