if i m not wrong.the actor or actress acting in the double role will first act part one of its role.then he or she will later act in another role.using the computer it is possible to merge both roles together.like digital cameras where two photos can be taken at different place and then merge together.if u r interested u may want to research on flims

it is done using bluemat or greenmat. i.e., the artist doing dual role first acts normally for one character, then the other character is shot against a blue or green screen maintaining perfect timing and placement . then the 2 videos are joined in a computer which can replace the blue screen of the second picture with the first picture

You film each part separately, with one or both of them filmed against a green screen so you just have the actor on film with no background. Then, using visual effects computers you add the two parts together.

They shoot the scenes separately and then shoot it all together simultaneously. and with computers nowadays and the green background, they could shoot anywhere in the world - even in Antarctica - without really going there. The actors act with a green screen background and then afterwards, the actual background is added (even without the actors) and manipulated to suit the director's "taste."
