1. WL Murdoch scored the first double-century in Test cricket. His stand with Scott for 207 was a Test record for any wicket. W Read reached his hundred in 113 minutes with 36 scoring strokes.
2. For the first time in Test cricket all eleven players bowled during Australia's innings, Grace keeping wicket while Lyttelton took four wickets with lobs.
3. Declarations were not permitted until 1889.

It was in the 3rd Test of Ashes Series 1884 played at Kennington Oval, London, England from 11th to 13th August, 1984 (3 days match) England used all 11 players to bowl.

The match was drawn and England won the 3 match series 1-0
