Not quite a million, but sometimes I see about 100. I dont think it is natural. Sometimes I think it is some kind of microscopic animal swimming around in front of my irises and I have focused enough to see them.

I saw flashes of light in the dark which I assumed were cosmic rays activating my retina. Later in life I realised it was Migraine with Aura

We all actually do not have consistent visual projection of our environment. Our higher level perception compensates for the many inadequacies in our field of vision. You are just more aware of yours. If our eyes did not move at a rate of 2-3 times a second, recurrent inhibition would completely blank our visual field leaving a massive gap for higher perception to fill. I am guessing your eyes are just more relaxed, after all, who sees black when they close their eyes, I see something closer to light grey with swirls of colour! When you are asleep your brain fills an even bigger gap in lower level perception with dreams.
