I'm 53 with grey hair and I hear things I'm not supposed to all the time - it seems I am invisible, or people just ignore me. I should get upset at this ignorance but it's actually quite interesting!

I have a kid sister, and I overheard some friends of her's talking about how she had been drinking last weekend (well, I say kid, she's 14..) - I had a go at her, I wish I'd never overheard it now!!
Also:
Everyone in the doctor's waiting room overheard that I was pregnant when I was only about 8 weeks. I didn't want to tell everyone yet, but I had to because of gossip! The doctor opened his office door and called out to the nurse "Can I have one of the pregnancy blood test forms?" - GRRR I was sooo mad!!
That was my secret that people overheard.

Unfortunately I hear such things at work every day; the ladies I work with like to gossip, which is a big reason why I keep to myself. I don't wanna hear gossip, nor do I wish to be the subject, or contribute in any way to the practice of gossip.
