The Democrats have a great opportunity to control congress and the next presidential election. Having said that, by putting Pelosi in as speaker, she will single handed give the Republicans the next election back. She is a Representative of the most morally corrupt state, the state with the biggest fiscal problems and budget deficit, (they can't even pay their elec bill) has the worst illegal immigration problem, and a horrible crime rate. She backs everything the Mid West and Southern voter detests. Had the Dem's been smart enough to pick a moderate leader they could have held control for years. How stupid! Her extreme liberal policy's will piss off every moderate and conservative independent in the country, unless she changes her spots now.

Pelosi won and you will have to accept it. Although she is definitely a San Francisco Liberal she will have to cut back to the middle arena as soon as she gets into Congress in the Majority Leader's chair. She is not a stupid lady and she knows if she starts pulling stupid things that the percentage of Americans do not want, she will be out in two years along with her party. They will undoubtedly be very careful of their actions in Congress and try not to make big waves. They will use diplomacy to get their agendas across. If they are stupid enough not to use a carefully conceived plan and stick to it, they will be dead in the presidential election in 08. Incidentally, she was hiding and saying nothing because she knew of her reputation and how it would spoil the chances of many contests. Staying in her spider hole for those several weeks before the election was an extremely smart move.

Being a San Franciscan, I am very proud of Nancy Pelosi elected as the House Speaker. Since she is a liberal democrat, it was prudent that she hid somewhere during the election. I am very thrilled to see the upcoming Congress controlled by the democrats.

She hasn't been in hiding; she's been busy leading the democrats to victory. She's responsible for having organised the democratic party and no one has ever raised more money for campaigning than she. Give her a break. She deserves to be majority leader of the house.

You sound like a sore looser. She has been elected to a position of great power, why not give her a chance and see how she does. Even the President showed respect and acknowledged her victory.

She is a dyed-in-the-wool whiny liberal who makes my skin crawl literally. I hope she will "grow up" finally in her new position, but I imagine it won't take Americans long to see her for what she is.
