Its absolutely normal that your doctor inserts finger in you ?im not sure whether that is always necessary.
Well yeah, he probably knows what to do, but should I like the idea some complete stranger is rubbing my girlfriend ?
Like when you are pregnant, why he has to touch you, when there is x-ray and other machines ?

Yes! It's very common. There are multiple thing he/she could e checking: ovary position, dialation, tipped uterous.
I assure you it is normal. In fact if you have a male doctor, it's a requirement (at least in my state) there must be a female nurse or doctor present to verify he is bing professional and there is no funny business going on.
In fact, my hospital has now started a new regulation that requires another female to be present even if a female doctor is giving the exam.

For a start x-ray are extremely harmful to the unborn child. And the doctor can only find out what is happening by feeling what is going on. Ultrasounds just don't show the right area and don't give the information required.
And he is hardly 'rubbing' her, that suggests some sexual intention. It's not exactly that type of situation for sexual gratification on either side, beleive me.
It is just something that is necessary for the wellbeing of both mother and child. Although I do have to add that the only time I ever had an internal examination with my three children was once labour had started. This shouldn't be done during pregnancy unless absolutely necessary. It can harm the baby.

Finger?? your girlfriend is lucky. I had his whole hand very visit!!!
He is checking her cervix and position of the bubs head. Its all part of it. If your uncomfortable with it stay outside because the last thing your girlfriend needs is added stress from you. It hurts like hell!!! Also you might want to educate yourself BEFORE the delivery if your going in because during that they may do it every 15mins or so. Watch a video and ask question at the doctors so your ready....CONGRATULATIONS!!!

it is OK there is nothing to worry about the doctor is checking try to make sure that she is not about to go into labor. you know to make sure she has not dilated any.
