Republicans as conservatives cannot support a gay candidate but can accommodate pedophiles like Foley.

Republicans are more likely to support a gay candidate, than Democrats are to support a pro-life one. Or one who supports military intervention in Iraq.

Truth is, there are Republicans who get nominated by the party in elections, even though they differ from the party line on certain issues -- such as abortion, gay marriage, and such.

But there are NO Democrats who get nominated by their party if they hold opinions that go against the party.

In that sense, the Republicans are far more tolerant of diversity of opinion.

Depends on what that person stands for. Pro-life and pro-1st and pro second Amendment candidates always get my vote.
