Nirvana is not attained by reading books or over a period of times.
It is attained by your self actualization which can happen in many ways.
May be by bringing up an orphan or many be by meditation. Its different for different individuals no set rules.
But reading books would never lead you to nirvana it will only lead you to confusion. But Gita can help as it has answer to every question.

Hi
There r different connautations bout nirwana but i have 2 say this-

"NIRVANA is that point in your life when you know yourself completely and actually 'being you' in such 'cosmic sense' that no external energy of any sort can harm you and u attain eternal bliss."
"in short complete self actualization thro' body, mind, spirit and soul"
So for that 2 happen u have 2 continuosly know yourself and if books do help u in the process well and good.
But being judgemental that it will be and it wouldn't be possible thro this and that doesn't help.nothing is achieved by having such an attitude. What counts is the context of the situation, the response to the situation, the means{one of them is books!!!} and the process thro which a particular person may achieve nirvana and that differs from person to person...
so got it buddy...

I also would like 2 quote a famous saying
"START BY DOING WHAT IS NECESSARY, THEN WHAT IS POSSIBLE AND SUDDENLY YOU ARE DOING THE IMPOSSIBLE"

good luck and strive 2 achieve

If you think that you can read two books then do the "nirvana thing" at a party, you are wrong.

God or the bible will not provide you information on this subject, as nirvana is a concept developed by the buddhists. Nirvana is the goal of spiritual practitioners in all branches of Buddhism. It is characterized by a complete pause of brain activity in a state of consciousness. To understand more about nirvana, buy a Hindu dictionary, and books on buddhism. It is highly difficult to understand their words and concepts, as each word has various meanings. The words in Hindu cannot be translated through a single english word, as they usually define a complex state of mind.

To help you understand the incredible culture of the buddhists, i would recommend the novel called Siddhartha, written by Hermann Hesse.

If you want to be a doctor, you will need any doctor to teach u. The same way if u want to attain the nirvana, u will need a self-ralised guru. Bcoz it is a practical knowledge which comes from inside. Try out more at www.swaminarayan.org

you got to be away from time, space, books etc to attain Nirvana. It happens in a second where you realise that everything is in nothing. And the image of everything around is the form of nothing but we gave it.

Nirvana means no desire in the worldly things. You have to practice. You need God's help to attain this. Nirvana only is not the way to heaven. You have to do the will of God. Read Bible.

Its not the number of books or amount of knowledge that earns you nirvana. Its the state of mind that helps you in applying your knowlege and intellegence that helps you attain it.
