Its ok to have one, but they have to think about the future of the country too, I guess they don't want any problems with too many immigrants from other countries. If this happened it can have an effect on the society , culture and the welfare system of Scotland. By the way its good to have a cultural mix too. They should have a yearly amount that they will give permit to live in Scotland. Tough immigration rules and control should be a priority, for example introducing a points system to match the Scotland's requirements with migrant labour. So it should be done in a managed way - in a way that is reasonable, and balanced. Educating about the culture of Scotland to these immigrants should be done in some way it helps them to learn about Scotland and to adapt to its culture.

Well, if Scotland doesn't it will be losing out. The country is not big enough to supply itself with all the skills that the different activities of modern life supplies.

It can be argued that countries like Norway has controlled immigration and that works for them. (Norway is a good comparison as it is geographically similar in parts and the population is about the same). There are differences however. Norway is a sovereign independent state and not part of the EU. Scotland is part of the UK and EU and are therefore subject to the laws concerning immigration. Also Norway cannot supply itself with the necessary labour, and it has to find "cheats" with foreign workers to get the skills it requires. It is losing out on the other benefits that a mixed population brings.

Along with Ireland, Scotland's population had been declining for years. With falling birth rates, the only way this has been turned around has been with immigration.

Hmmmm - don't have a significant different, yet when I did, there might want to be an "open door" coverage. I grew up in a crackerbox-sized residing house, with 6 people - and one bathing room. If ya did not have an open door coverage even as someone replaced into contained in the bathtub, there'd be a good number of messes to clean up!! LOL the position I stay NOW, tho - i might want to best close the door. The ninety 5 three hundred and sixty 5 days previous I room with is in many cases blind - if the door wasn't closed, she'd likely are available in, sit down on my lap & pee!!

An 'open door' policy is a recipe for social problems. Scotland should have a managed immigration scheme that ensures that people who come want to work and become Scottish. The English policy has only led to serious social strife and the government doesn't even know how many people are in the country.

Firstly they should throw all the scottish out, seeing as they are the offspring of imigrant drunk irish fishermen who got lost. The scots are proud of Kilts, Whiskey and all that which ALL originates in Ireland. And ever since the "Highlander" film (which they actually believed happened) they think they are cool.

Kick the jocks back to Ireland, preferably an island of Ireland. Then let the decent folk in, then scotland might become a nice place.:)

think of it this way ( to help your speach was intending to say aliens ? )

imigration is freandly ... but a scot is one becouse of ascent etc
however a mean people are never loved or deserve to...
but i still think some plan to scotify or britify the strangers would work....
for instance an education plan that shows kids the highland games ? and stuff like this some trips to the mountains etc
not just the rough side of glasgow

rangers go ! umm hybernun...

crystal palice

remember some pictures work like a photo ? ( you in a kilt ? )

Open door policy means that the immigration laws must be lenient in order that aliens will have no burden in completing documents and requirements.

I think it should be more like Austrialia - if you have a job waiting or a skill the country needs you should be allowed to come to the country and work. If however you have no skills or job waiting then you shouldn't be allowed into the country to stay.
