my friend wants to have a baby for her older sister as she can't have any due to medical problems, her sister has been married for 8 years and they are a lovely couple, she asked me what i thought i couldn't do it myself being a mother of quite a big brood, you feel the baby kicking inside you and you cant help but bond with it, as to handing it over and the baby not knowing you are it's mother it would break my heart, i also couldn't stand to watch someone bring that baby up and not have a say in its upbringing it would hurt too much, may be im selfish and my friend who has never had kids is very generous...what do you think?

I completely agree with you. I think it would be something that someone with extraordinary strength would be blessed to do...

I would definitely do it for my sister. I have a 5 yr old daughter and I know what you mean about feeling the baby kick inside of you and bonding with her. I also have two older sisters and thank God they can have kids. However if one of my sisters cannot have any children of her own and wanted so badly to be a mother, I would want her to experience the same joy that I have the pleasure of experiencing.

Its hard to give someone advice in this situation because every woman would feel differently. I know I couldn't do it. I have a child of my own and before she was born I had bonded with her so much, I couldnt just give her away. Maybe it would be different if they opted for IVF, and your friend had her sisters embryo implanted in her womb. Maybe knowing that you went the baby's real mother and just the "oven" would make it easier. This is a very delicate situation and I would advise you friend to talk to a professional and a counselor before she makes any decisions.

i think your friend is being a TRUE sister, helping her sister out. Certianly they should go for IVF , she is only carrying the baby in her 'oven' if the sisters have a strong bond, there is nothing more gracious than that. As long as teh husband knows its his sperm, and her egg, its their baby, just baked in a different oven!
There are sorrugate mothers all over the place who would do it anyway, so why not sister for sister?

I think its not correct. She is being very generouse but in future it is going to be very difficult for her. I have seen such families n God how painful it gets for the real mother i know it. I suggest that they should go through an adoption from a nursery n dont go through all this emotional pain. What if the child comes to know in future it will be a disaster for all.

Its so noble of your friend to do so. I would encourage her as she is giving a hope for the couples and also for not wrecking the couples marriage. The babay wouldbe well brought up as she will always get to see the baby afterall her baby will then be called "her niece".

Frankly, there are thousands of kids already out there who are waiting desperately for adoption so instead of your friend popping one out for her sister...her sister should go look for one that's been popped out and abandoned. That's more generous than producing your own just so that it will be a relative!

I would go IVF. I would have her embryo implanted into me. This way the child is genetically hers and I would only be the "oven" so to speak. If she is unable to use her own eggs I would suggest that she use a donor egg.

There is only one person in this world that I would do that for...............and that is my sister.
If that was the only way my sister could be blessed with a child...............and there were no medical reasons why it couldnt /shouldnt be done, then YES I would do it, but only for my sister.
