Ankle weights may be good but not a necessity. I NEVER wore ankle weights and I used to run my 40 in 4.43. The only thing I ever did was run my long distances (mile) on my toes, to build my calves. If you have good top speed, just work on your explosiveness / start.

For sprinting you need big strong legs.
Look at the 100M runners in track meets at the college level and above. Massive quads and hamstrings.
Squats, leg curls and lunges would be a great place to start.
Also having a stong upper body helps with explosiveness as well.

is it wieght or pant/dress size you wish to lose if it is truly wieght then any wight lifting is bad if it is size than brisk walks/runs and swimming is the quickestway to lose both
