Every time you measure distance, position, area, volume, angles, curves, lines, heights, shapes and so many other things you are doing geometry.

Geometry is used in landscaping, forestry, carpentry, farming, and many other fields of work. Any time you want to know how big something is, or how much something can hold, or the angle to make a cut, that is geometry.

I am an insurance company actuary. I often analyze several years of premium data. Each year the rates change - they go up or down - so the various years of premiums are at different rate levels. I need to adjust the premiums to put them on a common rate level. The algebraic formulas to do this are messy. However, this problem has a geometric interpretation, and I solve this problem using areas of figures.
