You will be able to try the most interesting and diverse selection of delicious pancakes. Have pancakes for dinner. They're called pannekoeken and I recommend bacon and cheese for your main course, and whipped cream and cherries for dessert. Or for a snack, try poffertjes, tiny pancakes.

You can also get great fish, slavinken (meatballs covered in bacon) and stroopwafels. The most popular fast food is falafel, and if you do feel daring enough, try the pickled herring at least once.

Well the traditional food are things like 'stamppot' which is a kind of mashed potatoes with cabbage or sauerkraut or something like that, or just plain potatoes, a piece of meat and some vegetables.
But don't worry, the Netherlands is very multicultural and so became our food. If you go for restaurants or take away, in Amsterdam you can find almost everything you want. And most people in their homes are no longer eating the traditional Dutch stuff.
One of the things I love myself is the herring, 'maatjesharing' or 'nieuwe haring'. With onions. When I am out of the country, this is something I always miss and one of the first things I want to eat when I am back home.
