When I was 11 I won a cheap gold fish (kinda like a feeder) at a local carnival. my dad took it under his wing, fed it fish food, bread and any kind of bugs that came across his path, Im now 28 - the fish died June of this year . 17 good years!

you'd be very fortunate if something will stay in a bowl for 6 months. saved impressive, fish will stay for years. A impressive saved Betta can, and may, stay a contented, healthful 5 or extra years! the reason people imagine fish are short-lived is because reported people do no study and kill their fish, then ignorantly blame the fish! in case you want to dedicate to holding a fish for years, flow to a e book save or library and get some newbie's aquarium holding books. how that is ordinary to take care of them impressive, then take the steps to take action. purely a unmarried Betta can stay in a small tank. a perfect Betta tank is a minimum of 5 gallons with a hood, heater, and gentle filter out. Do-able in any dorm room. A heater and gentle filter out are musts! Bettas are tropical and do not do nicely in chilly water. that is going to finally weaken their immune device, they receives sick and die. Any and all fish must have filters. Bettas favor comfortable filters (which incorporates a sponge filter out) because they could't stand a good number of turbulence of their tanks. i desire I have cleared that up for you. solid success.

I've had a tank cleaner (sucker fish), and two gold fish for over 2 years now. They are really out growing the tank. My daughter takes her coloring book over everyday and sits it on the table in front of the tank and colors with them. The goldfish line up in the front and watch her. Pretty funny, she can talk and color with them forever. I've even caught her kissing the tank. lol

I used to have an aquarium when I was still in Japan.
We had this catching-goldfish contest at our elementary school every summer and I caught some cute orange ones when I was 6 yrs old. One of them was still alive when I was 14 yrs old - that makes him at least 8 yrs old at that time. But he wasn't cute any more. He grew to about 4, 5 times bigger and that pretty orange faded into beige.
