This isnt legal right?!? Isnt this the exact same as literally stealing? I had a credit and nothing late...they said they were sorry and sending it back to me through a check in the mail, and it would be a couple of weeks to get to me, but it was a mistake...yet, I set with $63 out of my account, that I might have needed for whatever reason...Im going to the bank to see if I can report it for fraud. Can I do that? Id even go through the steps they would have me do if it wsa some yaywho off the street! They cant just take money out if I didnt authorize it tight, and get by with it? Im not late, had a $50ish credit, and already sent decembers bill in...and they totally admitted it was a misclick on there behalf!!! and act like i have no reason to be upset becasue they are going to send it in the mail!!! (i should recieve in a couple of weeks!)Im wondering if im going to make a fool out of myself tomorrow when i go talk to the bank...im so mad i can spit! any suggestions?

I understand your frustration. This happened to me with a "trip" I didn't want.
Some company charged a trip to my card and when I called to contest it they said they talked to me on the phone and I agreed to buy the trip. I said no, play the recording for me. They wouldn't. I called my credit card company and told them take it off I don't want it. I don't have any part of the "trip" in my posession. The card company took it off and two months later put it right back on. I was furious, felt like I had been robbed. I had a lawyer call them and threaten them with a law suit.

Seems to me your cable company could have authorized a credit to your card instead of making you wait.

In the future, tell them you are recording the conversation because I have had so many instances of failed promises and twisted statements I could barf. Get a recorder that hooks to the phone line and turns on when any voice is there. Radio shack has them. They take a standard cassette tape and you can pause it if it is just a friendly conversation.

Try not to let this throw for a loop. It most likely was a mistake not an attempt to rip you off. They most likely process thousands of forms a day. But imagine if your card was close to max and that put you over the limit. You would have a fee of anywhere from $19 to $29!

I got fed up with the constantly increasing rates of cable and switched to satellite.

Good luck ...............

That is why they ask you for a credit card to pay for it or checking account. First, read your contract with them, the one the installer left with you. When or if you ever get it back, you should call them back, wait on hold for 15 minutes and tell them you are canceling and why and sending them a copy of where they caused you a financial hardship, the jerks. Good luck in getting a cash refund, they normally just issue a credit and wait for your final bill. Here is the scam, if they do this to 20 people a week, only 10 will ever notice it. That is a lot of money in a years time. Any of these companies will NOT reimburse you if your account went over and you had extra costs or shortages, they just say sorry! File a BBB complaint and include a letter to the operations mgr.

Did you agree to Electronice Funds Transfer (EFT) for a billing option? They can't take out any funds without consent from you. Anyway, if you did, its a common error that companies make. Cancel your EFT billing option. If you have this option, make your payments online through your bank. Your cable company apologized but they should have offered you an incentive like a gift card for a store or percentage off your next bill. Call the cable company and ask for a manager and say you want to report this as a complaint against the rep who did this boo-boo.

particular, they have the marvelous. and that i'd desire to disagree with you. The minimum money are disgustingly low. they're geared to maintain you in debt for an extremely long term so the cardboard business enterprise can earn extra activity from you. in case you detect the payments too intense you have borrowed too lots, which particularly frankly is your duty. i do no longer intend to evangelise because of the fact it somewhat is barely too elementary to do, yet perchance this journey will make you extra careful interior the destiny. I prefer you the best of success.

<>The only way they could take money out of your bank account is if you authorized them to do so...otherwise, that is theft. When you authorize companies and businesses direct access to your account, it is up to you to be vigilant that they do not make mistakes. Unfortunately, them saying it was a mistake and re-imbursing you is perfectly legal.
