I'm blond and tried to go dark several times, but end up looking washed out because of my complexion. If I could get it to look right I would go with a pretty chesnut brown or something. Nothing to weird.

I once changed my hair color from brown to blond but it looked too odd, now I shave my head all the way bald

Dear God, it looks like you have a big juicy olive stuck to the side of your face. I suppose I'm grateful that there was not a 2 foot long hair growing out of that thing.

I'm satisfied with being a blonde, but if I were ever in a mood to experiment, I might add reddish highlights...strawberry blonde or even a light auburn.
