You could spend your summers fishing. Lots of retired people fish multiple times a week. Westport Washington is a good tourist town. Charter fishing is a blast because all you have to do is show up and they do everything. About $100 per trip. I know guys that go 20 times or more per summer.

It's good that you are in good health. I'm not but my husband is. I still have my brain and the use of one finger on my right hand and the use of two fingers on my left. We turned our extra bedroom into a computer room. We write Family Histories. I have written my personal history, my mothers family history and just fininshed writing my father family history. My fathers family history is 500 pages of text and pictures that date back to the time they were first able to print photo's. We traveled around to the cemeterys and also took pictures of our ancestors headstones. The research is the most interesting. It has taken 10 years to do all the work I have done and I'm starting a photo story on myself. It includes every car we have owned and every place with pictures that I have lived. My husband is the one who inspired me to write. He has written more books on family history than I have. He has also written a novel of fiction about the pioneers and a book for our grandchild when he was in the National Jewish Hospital in Colorado. His books have copyrights but have not been published. He is taking a computer class everyday from 1 to 3. We both work on family pictures and make photo albums for our family of 31. We have a laminator to make and design our covers. We have a comb binder to punch the hole and make and put together our own books. It can and has become an obsession. We are both 71 years old and have found out the joy of continuing to learn some thing new each day. Hope this is helpful. It is not only rewarding but you could be leaving a legacy worth more than gold to you decendents. I want to share this poem with you and hope it will give you the inspiration to write your personal story.

Strangers In The Box

Come, look with me inside this drawer,
In this box I've often seen,
At the pictures, black and white,
Faces proud, still, serene.
I wish I knew the people,
These strangers in the box,
Their names and all their memories
Are lost among my socks.
I wonder what their lives were like,
How did they spend their days?
What about their special times?
I'll never know their ways.
If only someone had taken time
To tell who, what, where, or when,
These faces of my heritage
Would come to life again.
Could this become the fate
Of the pictures we take today?
The faces and the memories
Someday to be passed away?
Make time to save your stories,
Seize the opportunity when it knocks,
Or someday you and yours could be
The strangers in the box.

Is your name Carly? Poor baby, all that dough and no place left to go. Sounds like you found YA, that's not a hobby for most--an addiction or least a way of life. I took an 'early retirement' and had enough to pay off my credit cards and that was about it. It's good you are open about your frustration and desire to change and have asked others for help. I have found the most personally satisfying activity which gives meaning and purpose to my life is helping others--developmently disabled, special olympics, a service club. People who I never really thought about while I was working. I wish you well.

Hmm. Regardless of your comments there, you should still find a hobby before you die of boredom. (I seriously think that is possible)

But if you are just the kind of person with a very short span of interest, do a list of things you "Want to try but have not tried", "Things you used to love doing but stopped because of whatever reasons", "Friends you used to be close with but did not keep in touch with"..and other list of things.

Doing the lists will keep you alive for the next few days. After that you can start doing the things on your list. And keep moving to the next once something is completed or has started to bore you.

GOod luck.

Well I'm not retired yet but I fully intend to spend a huge amount of time fly fishing, its addictive. If you've never tried it you should give it a shot.
