BECAUSE GM'S ON TOP AGAIN. Last year Toyota had the most recalls, but the media "failed" to notice since millions would stand against them because of thier reputation. These days reputation is nothing, technology advances so fast it cant keep up. For ex: three years ago GM was one of the worst companies, now they have the most top-rated vehicles, and the quality/reliability surpasses Toyota. Honda is still on top of the reliability ratings. Ford also had more recalls than GM and DaimlerChrysler combined, for reasons like exploding engines and wheels falling off. Here is a quote from the Washington Posts review of the Toyota CAmry "one of which is the Chevrolet Malibu, which in my real-world driving experience has been every bit as good and reliable as the much-ballyhooed Camry but has been maligned primarily because it is a Chevrolet". Oddly enough that was an '04 Malibu VS the totally redisigned '07 Camry. Common problems with Toyotas are plastic rattling until it falls off. People then complain that when they take it to the dealer to be fixed they just say "The cars are made with so much plastic its practically impossible to fix" GM is also the worlds fastest growing manufacturer, and that dosent happen by accident.

Hello , In the early 1970's American cars had to be simplified to save on fuel because of the "Fue Shortage" which later turne out to be a scam . We never has a Fuel Shortage . BUt the scare workes and USE had .. to cut back . USA lost some quality control at that time and the Asians jumped right ontop of it before Sunset .. and by Dawn they filled the Auto Market Worldwide with Fuel saving engines and still had money leftover to build a strong running and long running vehicles and then they make Pickups and Trucks ,, a very wise Investment . Bad times for the US auto in them days . We laughed at the little cars , the Datsuns , the mini cars . USA's "Big 3" knew it was in trouble . The US Auto Industry and has yet to recover from the 1970s Asian auto invasion . However , I have vehicles that get 15 mpg and I get 200,000 miles no problem . I take it easy . US auto are far better nowadays but we have a long way to now ,, haven't we .

I was always a Dodge man until the first big gas crunch they I bought a small Toyota PU and I am on my second one now. I will never drive anything else if I can help it. 100 K with no repairs except brakes. But stay away from any small 4 cylinder they are all constructed in a way that makes replcement of the timing chain a really big job. The six is easy. and should be changed at about 80K. Same as all cars with the fabric belt instead of a steel chain.

GM Cars: Especially Their 4x4's are all solid as tanks, they have always been a favorite here in the middle east, where it is mandatory to have a huge family SUV. If It Were Up To Me I Would Buy The GM Denali, Its Like One Big Luxurious Tank.

GM has some competitve models and some dogs. It's a huge generalization to say "asian-brand cars are better". You have to compare model to model and prices, too.
