My uncle is 85 and bedridden, but still mentally alert. He can sit up in a wheelchair or chair, but not walk. He was active most of his life. His hobbies were woodworking, hunting, and fishing. He enjoyed watching baseball and college football. What can I give him for Christmas (in the approximately $25 to $50 range) that will make his days a little brighter? Thank you for your advice.

books or puzzle books, puzzles, a book of stamps and a selection of greeting cards, a magazine subscript to one of his hobbies. A newspaper subscript.to his local newspaper. A book of beautiful photographs. A CD player and his favorite style of music. A blanket with his favorite team on it. Time with you.

Some music would be nice-you know what he likes. a nice knitted or crocheted afghan would also be nice and cozy Those balls you shake that looks like they have snow in them are nice. An aquarium with fish would be nice if he has someone to take care of it for him. A carving made from wood would also be a nice gift. Does he need a table or a night stand, He may still enjoy reading hunting or fishing or sports magazines, A good book or two to read might also be appreciated. A nice soft robe would also be a good gift.

A really thoughtful idea would be to take something he has done with his hobbies and make it special... something that will last and that maybe could be kept as a keepsake. You could take a photo of him hunting or fishing, make it black and white and frame it in a sinver engraved frame. Or take a wooden piece that he make and bronze and engrave it too. There are tons of possibilities. Even a scrapbook would be a nice idea if he likes things like that :) Good luck!
