how about drinking chamomile tea before sleep?
Chamomile is one of the oldest garden herbs, whose reputation as a medicinal plant shows little signs of abatement. Considered a universal remedy by the ancient Egyptians, Chamomile continues to be used today to battle illness, promote calm and relieve anxiety at bedtime. As a tisane (herbal tea), it is naturally caffeine-free.

I have similar situation. Everytime when my anxiety level is high, i can stay up until morning. My brain can't stop thinking thoughts and i just can't relax. In this situation, it is best to do breathing exercise. Concentrate on your breathing and this will divert your attention away from your thoughts. Do this everytime you can't sleep. If you still can't manage to fall asleep after staying in bed for very long, wake up and try to read something.

Talk to your Doctor. Insomnia can be stress related, or you could be experiencing a sleep related breathing disorder that causes you to wake early or not be able to maintain sleep in long amounts of time. A sleep study could help in your diagnosis and might keep you from taking sleep aids if you don't need them.

Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical
problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can be
cured. I found the information at http://tinyurl.com/jfzpz useful
for getting sleep.
