If Nasa has some of the smartest people working for them on the planet, (No offence) then why are they still spending billions of dollars keeping people in space when it is a fact of science that there is no infinet sources of energy avaliable to travel more than a million miles or so away. Whats going on up there??

I think your facts of science need to be updated.

Mars orbit is 1.5 AU (about 145 million miles) from the Sun.

The Earth is 93 million miles away from the Sun. At its closest, Mars is about 50 million miles away, and we have sent many probes to Mars without the need for "infinit (sic) energy"

A manned Mars mission is well within human ability.

In the long run it's a good thing. Exploration is good. What's NOT good is doing things like putting ANOTHER man on the moon? Why? So they can walk around in more dust and play some more golf? That's just a waste of money. The government could spend OUR money better, and it could save a lot of money to help people here on Earth. But not by taking it out of the space program. Government overspending is still a huge problem. Fix it, even a little bit, and we would have plenty of money to help out a lot of people. NASA is a good thing. It's mere existence enrichens mankind. It gives us hope for the future. There are not many other things that give us that kind of hope.

Dude,,,,think.

Everything in your life is a direct result of the space age. The computer you wrote the quesiton on, the monitor you're reading this answer on, the computers in your car, microwaves to cook your food,,,,,everything in the past 50 years is a direct offshoot of the space race.

And you have no idea what new ideas will be brought down here from the experiments going on up there.

Their contract or whatever from the government is up I think in 2019...not totally sure of that year...anyways, they are probably to make a major discovery or technological breakthrough prior to that happening so that they may have the chance to extend that contract. If they aren't producing any useful or dire information, than they will be no longer when that contract runs out...

What may seem to be now can be proven wrong. Also, there is nothing wrong in trying to pursue new knowledge and information right?
