Many people don't really "listen" all that well to music....to the average person, Bob Dylan Seems to be mumbling....but I think that's the unique part...its not really a mumbling, but he's more giving it an artistic feel. It is so cool to hear him do his songs that he wrote for other artists that became so popular...Bob gives them all a differnt meaning. Did you hear the new album? Awesome blues folk rock mix. Timeless!

You are missing soemthing. Now i love Bob Dylan, and i actually really like his voice. But he is in no way a great singer. He doesn't have a good singing voice, he makes up for that with his lyrics. It's not in tune or in time, he has a very limited range and hence is often rather monotonic. He doesn't vary it up much and he sounds like there is something stuck in his throat.

Compare him to some of the great male vocalists like Orbison or Garfunkel and you'll understand. Even these modern day "pop" singers have more variation and control than dylan. And i'm sure Bob would probably admit that.

I personally love his voice just the way it is, but that in no way makes it a good voice. hence that is why people say he sings badly, because he has an awful voice. But without it, he wouldn't be Bob Dylan, and he wouldn't be the peoples singer.

One thing that i know about dylan is he is one of the greatest folk song singer that the world ever have. He still active until now. He have been in music for more than 30 years, and still so many people love him.
Maybe some people do not like the music that he play. Or maybe some people do not like what he looks like or the sound of music that he play.
But whatever people say about him, he's still a LEGEND for the music scene.

Bob Dylan! Great songwriting, terrible voice: nasal raspy and downright funky.
Not everyone is blessed with a great voice. Bob Dylan is the balancing agent to all those MoTabChoir singers.

I absolutely love bob dylan's voice. I don't know, but I also come across a lot of people who think he sounds bad. I'm not sure why! Maybe it's cause he has a unique voice and they're not used to it??

Bob Dylan, who was born Robert Zimmerman, was first and foremost a poet, hence the reference to Dylan Thomas in his assumed name!!!! I love him and his music but his voice is not musically the greatest.....I think it is the utter distinctiveness of it that causes us all to love him so much!!!!! That along with the amazing lyrics.....my favourite is "Hurricane"!!!!

because they feel that he is really just speaking those phrases you love instead of singing it. He was a story teller and his music showed. Some people just don't like the near raspiness and tone that he presented his music with. HIs music really is written very well, but some don't like how it was told. Different strokes for different folks really.

it is not surprising why he is so famous and why so many singers with "weird" voices have reached the top!
It is because they stand out from the others immediately and Dylan is one of those!
