I bottle fed my first baby as i just couldnt seem to get her to latch on properly. I breast fed my second baby and couldnt believe how easy it was with him. With my first there was so much pressure on me especially from the midwives. I was getting upset and my baby wasnt getting as much as she needed. I remember the day i gave her a bottle, she was three days old and she just gulped it down in no time like she had been starving for 3 days. She was so much calmer & happier after that. We could both relax and i knew it was the right thing for us at the time. She is four now and is healthy and smart. I dont think bottle feeding did her any harm.

It was almost always my choice for feeding and not an inability interfering with the choices I had made. The first two were bottle fed (formula), number three was breast fed and number four was a combination of breast fed and formula due to me going back to work when he was two months old. Also, I was able to stay home with numbers one and three.

I planned to breast feed both by kids until they were 12 months. It worked with my first, and my second got to 4 months and I had to switch to the bottle.
Jokingly, I described to the doctor that he was using me like a drive thru service. Instead of having big feeds he would take small ones, no matter what i tried. So he dried my milk up, because it couldn't produce, and he was hungry. It was hard to let it go, but his feeding was more important.

My wife and I have two girls. Our first would not keep down the breast milk so we had to put her on formula. Our second was breastfed until she was almost one. We are having our third child in January and are planning on breast feeding him as well. Our girls look the same age and are confused as twins. It is an obvious difference between the bottle and breast when our 4 year old is almost bigger than our year old.

I only bottlefed my first, and she was about 5 months when I started. My milk dried up, so I had to. It was very emotionally upsetting. Due to school, my milk supply never had a chance to get stable and I just started to dry up. It was hard to get her off the bottle at 12 months. My other kids were only breast and I was very careful with them to keep my supply stable and introduce sippy cups at 6 months. Bottles are so much work!

Hi,
I bottle feed my little boy, because i am big chested it was really difficult to breast feed, plus i didn't make alot of milk, i don't think that it has done him any harm, he is on formula and has had no problems since, alot of people say you don't bond as well as a mother that brest feeds but i think that is a load of **** as there are other ways of bonding, my little boy is as much a mummys boy as any other baby that has been brest feed
The formula they make these days is really good too

I bottle-fed both of my children. If I had ten more children, I would do the same!! I hate the thought of breast-feeding. I know formula is expensive, but to me BREASTS are more of a sexual thing than a food source.

I bottle fed my first two children because I was a teenager and still self conscious about being a mother. I breast fed my 3rd child because she was my last baby and I wondered what it would feel like..... OMG, it was the worst experience I have ever had. It hurt so bad when she would latch on and my nipples would bleed and leak and stick to my shirt. I put her on the bottle after the 9th day. My boobs ache just thinking about that, and it's been 15 years since.
