OK, you've asked 3 questions, so you get 3 answers- and I should get the 10 points for doing this! :p

A)People and Kids are now trained that way from the time they're born, go to preschool, gradeschool, middle school, high school, college or a trade school, or the military. If you notice this structured enviroment, it has put huge restraints on the kids to work in a structured enviroment, and has left little if any time for them to develop themselfs.

B)Tattooing has been around for at least 6000 years, and its used to mark social groups, including people who've gone to prison. Piercings, and skin cutting fall into this category also.

B1)Collecting things, such as "beenie babies" has been around for thousands of years. I suspect but cannot prove its an outgrowth of our desire to horde food for bad times and fammine.

C)People who follow every "stupid trend" are actually seeking spiritual guidance. Every person who exists is programmed to worship something. Some worship their bodys (Hollywood actors come to mind) some worship other peoples bodies (single guys wanting to have sex with beautiful women) Some worship money (The fiscal abuses from Worldcom and Enron come to mind) Some people worship power- George Bush and the Republican party come to mind, along with their abuses.

However, some people recognize that worship is a part of being human and the smart ones realize this is our soul trying to find God as we understand him.

Hey, trends help you to make decisions and bring a little order to your life! If it wasnt for trends, you might spend longer making a decision when you go shopping. Of course, if you already know what you want, then good for you! Hurrah, watever. But for those who need a little help to choose something, knowing what's "cool" and what's not is very helpful. But yeah...following EVERY trend is stupid and tiring. Then you keep on having to change the items that you have to "fit in." Trends are only good in moderation. People who follow too many care too much about what others think and not enough about what they think of themselves. It's sad, pathetic, but what can you do? Ok, I'm off to play maple story, listen to my ipod, download ringtones onto my cell, watch mtv, and smoke all while I wear designer clothes that cost a fortune when I could have bought similar things at walmart for less...jk!

They chose not to be leaders. Its hard to say really, I've never followed the trends, but now I am "behind the fashion." Most of the time people are just looking for the recognition of doing the same thing that some "better" than them is doing. It makes them feel like they are accomplishing something to compensate where they feel they are lacking.

I don't think they are loosers. Just get suched into the latest things. For kids it could be trying to fit in. Everyone is zooted about the latest what ever so they go with the crowd. Adults I can't really say. They just get sucked in out of stupidity. Kids don't know any better.

They are looking for their identity and somehow they think they will find it in these trends. No they are not losers, they just need guidance. But the sad thing is they won't listen to you until they have done some of the stupid things you mentioned and found out that it wasn't what they thought.

I bought into the idea that I could sell beanie babies later on for a massive profit....good thing I only got 3. I don't have any piercings, but I might get one, who knows. I'm going to get a tattoo, but the design holds a deep significance for me, it isn't some trendy tribal lower back tat. Oh yes and baaa.

No, it's all really in the perspective of the masses. What looks good, what looks bad. I have no tattoos or piercings but I think the people who do (kinda weird) are expressing themselves in a very personal way, or are looking for a way to fit in.

People are afraid of isolation and of being alone, so they desperately cling to what's hip and cool in order to be part of the crowd. What they fail to realize is that being alone in a crowd can be even more frightening than being alone on one's own...

No, that does not make them losers. It's a common thing with every human being... the old phrase "monkey see, monkey do".
