"Big oil companies a target in new Congress" -certainly not music to my ears. For those of you that voted democrats (or should I say economically illiterate)... what do you think will happen when the dems trash the tax breaks given to "big oil"? Don't you think the consumers (US!) are going to be paying for them in the long run?
When the gas prices are sky high and breaking records I don't want to hear you crying, we told you so... Thanks. Good move.

Ok, As I suscpected I see your economic illiteracy is hanging out libs... especially when it comes to oil. "Big oil" as it is referred to does not drill the oil. "Big oil" purchases oil, transports it to the US and refines it.... their profit margin is a mere 9%. If you want to pissnmoan about 9% profit margin then you better start painting your protest signs and look at what the profit margin on your Birkenstalks are cause it's probably in the neighborhood of 85%. You don't want to be a hypocrite do you?
As for the "fake war" response... I didn't mention war and in fact the war has nothing to do with it. I hope nothing happens to one of your friends or family the next time a terrorist is able to get into this country and blow something up... you seem to not want to do something about it.

Gas prices were already sky high, have you forgotten the $4.00/gal over parts of the summer. Or some of the outrageous prices posted after Katrina. The Oil Companies all claimed that those price increases were vital for the company to stay on its feet due to the lowered productivity, yet they still broke major records when it came to their profits, Oil Companies made more money in the last couple years than any other company in the History of our Country. The Democrats want to make sure that the Oil Companies don't use our Countries high needs for oil to make as much money as they want. I'm sure gas prices will increase in the next few weeks, it seemed to big of a coincidence that they went down during the most crucial part of the mid-term campaign when gas prices were a major issue for Americans.

Unless of course, the Dems pressure the WH to release the oil reserves. Then prices drop.

If Iraq goes well, stability comes to Iraq, Engineers work on the wells and pipelines, more supply, prices drop.

More R&D on alternative fuels, we eventually become less dependent on fossil fuels and import less oil.

It's actually working as we speak.
Brazil has stopped importing oil.
They use E85, ethanol from Corn.

There are E85 stations in the US but not in all states as yet. We're waiting for the Oil barons and the Auto Tycoons to get with the program.

They were late in the 1970's. Did someone say Toyota?

My guess is plummet! They don't want to be the topic on the hill. An investigation might uncover the corruption in both the companies and the white house!

If there profit margin is only 9% then why is it that ALL Big oil companies posted record gains to the stock market for the past three years!

Sheep! You got to love them! Keep watching Fox News.

The gas prices will be higher than they were six months ago. Oil companies will be less able to drill.

It's my understanding that corporation don't technically pay taxes, they just pass on the taxes to the consumer in the form of higher prices.

up,up and away, the oil companies don't control OPEC.America doesn't control OPEC.,but the oil companies are trying to produce as much oil as the environmentalist will let them. Not fair to take away their profits. Did Reed give up his profit on his shady land deal?

you honestly think the reason for lower gas prices is tax breaks for oil companies that are owned by people in the cabinet. wake up son and research before you speak rather than using 50 cent words like economically illiterate to speak to others.

I know, how are we going to enjoy the low gas prices we have had in the last year if Dems keep screwing it up.

Who cares if EXXON makes 2 billion bucks per quarter in Cream Cream Cream and we pay 3.50 per gallon for the last year.

They work hard for those billions

"Our merchants and master-manufacturers complain much of the bad effects of high wages in raising the price, and thereby lessening the sale of their goods both at home and abroad. They say nothing concerning the bad effects of high profits. They are silent with regard to the pernicious effects of their own gains. They complain only of those of other people."
