It's not necessarily my personal case, because I think there's nothing more interesting than diversity in the world and I'm happily married to a man that couldn't be from a more different culture and background than mine.
But when I think why most of the human race can't stand each other, I come to the conclusion that even when we have intelligent brains that separate us from the monkeys, as primitive as it might sound, we're still animals after all, it's in our DNA, our genes, that's the way nature is.
I don't deny that in most cases people can't stand each other just because they're ignorant or full of hatred, but we also have to consider the nature factor as well, many people feel more comfortable with familiar things to them, what they're used to or the way and the place they grew up, the same race, same religion, same culture etc...without having anything to do with racism or hatred they just don't accept change or anyhting different from them, their believes or lives so easily.
I don't think human race will ever be completely united, number one, becuase there is too much ignorance and intolerance out there and it's only getting worse by the hour, and number two, just for the simple fact that people are too different, you can have a simple example from all kinds of animals in nature out there, even when they belong to the same family, different species simply can't live with each other, you will never get a gorilla to live with a orangutan or a lion to live with a cheetah.
Sadly in some cases and hopelessly in others, some people are still too attached to their animal instincts, it's not the way it should be, but unfortunately, it's just the way it is for millions of people.

Faith. The problem with uniting the human race is that we are all too different to follow one set of rules. Preaching religion has created the vast majority of war ever since war, or religion began. Which came first the chicken or the egg? War or religion?
The only faith which can unite the human race is TOLERANCE.
Only when we realise that our differences are reconcilable, can we live in peace. It is our differences which make our species so interesting so making everyone the same will just cause more problems.
We should be united BY our differences, not divided.

People have beliefs ingrained in them their entire lives because of their enviroment and how they were raised. It is difficult to change years of deep seated prejudice in a person and world conflicts that stem from intolerance.
It is impossible to make a religion that everyone can adhere to because most, if not all religions contradict each other and there are those who don't want to believe in religion at all. Some people feel that religion itself is causing conflicts throughout the world and through history.
The human race does not unite because of misunderstandings, misconceptions, enthnocentrism, anti-semitism and racism. Many issues arise from these problems and this is a very complex issue. Sadly, most people don't realize we are more alike than different.
There is no simple answer to this question.

I think all races need to forget about skin color and religious beliefs and remember that we all have one thing in common and that is that we are all a part of the human race. And the only time we should treat another human differently is when hurt some one or kill some one.

Well, u can't unite a family any more, let alone the universe. People are entitled to their own ideas, but a common thread should be there that will preserve the basic common ground. I am for the whole world becoming one country, but we are far away from that, I am afraid.

Human race can only be united in following Christ Jesus and His word. Religion cannot take us far and when the time forReligion ends God shall remain as God because in Heaven the only way is Christ not Religion.

Simple: the human race doesn't want to be united.
Blind hatred (in the form of racism, sexism, homophobia etc.) is a way that the weak of character can find some shred of identity. By hating some group of people, they take pride that they are not one of them. In truth, it isn't really identity. It's a non-identity.

Because we are being manipulated by people we listen to. Teenagers are the easiest target of manipulators.
We are exposed to manipulation, indoctrination and even brain washing by preachers, activists and drug pushers. Another reason is the human craving for prestige symbols.
In poorer countries young girls sell sex to buy cell phones, boys get involved in selling drugs for buying motorcycles.
In richer countries young drug pushers and addicts spend on cars instead of motorcycles. The basic problem is the same. Only details differ..

Because theres too many races per se. You have blacks, hispanic, whites, tongan, phillipino, european, australian,,,,then narrow that down to guys down the block, and then up the block, then across the street, then across the bridge,,,now multiply that by all the different religions of the world. The problem is simply too many different kinds of people with too many different kinds of religious beliefs.
