What? So we should put guns in jail instead? People have the intent, thats why they go to jail. Guns are tools that lie around and make killing easier. Your question is like asking "if nuclear weapons are so bad, why do we punish the people that try to acquire them?"

A person who intends to kill should be put in jail, but the tools at his disposal matter. A pencil will be slightly effective as a deadly weapon, a knife more so, a gun more so, and a nuclear bomb the most of all. Thats why the tools are regulated differently. A pencil is rarely regulated, a knife a little less rarely, a gun even more regulated, and nuclear weapons the most of all.

I see what you mean by asking your question, that people are not really bad but the guns themselves.

I've never seen a gun acting out by itself...generally they are triggered by a finger, attached to a hand on a wrist of an arm of a person.

I've seen movies were the triggers were tied with rope and made to shot by tugging at the rope...but anyways, it's a person that had to have concocted that idea.

People are put in jail for putting holes in people and causing death by using guns. Guns are bad because they've been used to do bad things by people.

Does that make sense to you?

Check your facts, skippy. Guns are a tool, just like a pencil or a screw driver. A pencil, a screw driver or a gun can lie around on the shelf for years and never do anything remotely "bad". Add a person with half-a-brain, and you've got a recipe for disaster. With very little effort, I could use a screw driver or a pencil to kill someone just as dead as if I used the gun. Guns are not "bad, people are!

It's not that the guns are bad; it's the people that use them. And the way our society is today, in my opinion, I think the constitution should be revised. That was written back in the day when people carried guns to hunt, "a right to bare arms." We don't HAVE to hunt today in order to eat, so I think there should be some restrictions written into that part. People back then carried guns to hunt and for protection. Today, people carry guns to steal and kill.
