Hi, I fell down and injured my right knee a few days ago. previously i couldnt straighten my knee while walking. It has gotten better now though i am still limping as my knee is not fully straight yet. But i noticed that my right calf and ankle seems to be swollen and tight after i started walking each day. But there is no pain in the calf and ankle. But every morning when i wake up, the swelling is not there. Why is this so? Is it water retention? Will it go away once my knee recovers?

Both my knees act up if I work too hard bending/standing all day and then my legs swell up ... feel tight.. It's the knees/ in your case the "knee" swells from behind and causes water retention in the calf and ankle.

The only time you really have to worry about swelling in the legs or elsewhere is when you can push into the swollen area and leave a dent, and the dent doesn't go away.. then you have problems..(I mean the dent really doesn't go away, stays like that)

Rest you leg............

That's gravity dependent edema. Try elevating your involved lower extremity every now and then when you are upright. That swelling should settle down when your knee is healed.

probably it's water retention due to the swelling of your knees. it's a problem when the swlling is permanent and when it's painful.

maybe u damaged your ankle joint by walking not right while your knee was aching. u should have put bandage and took a pain killer not to limp. now u have to go to doctor, u might have bursitis or arthritis of ankle because of walking not properly. but maybe it is nothing. but i would go to doctor to be safe, cos arthritis can be quite painful later if not treated now. it starts like it - swelling, more swelling, then swelling might even become less, but then pain will start

Could be a blood clot, or low circulation. Get it checked out before it continues to grow in size. It should be fairly easy to be treated by the right doctor.
