Why 2012?

The Christians have eagerly awaited the end of the world at the turn of millennia. But have been let down. We just seem to enjoy being smitten by the lord, kind of perverse joy. I do not know about how god thinks but nature is a different story. 2012 sounds like a good date(?) why not. You might get lucky!!!
There are so many unpredictable (and predictable) ways the earth can be obliterated: Super Volcano Eruption. Asteroid Hit. Monster Solar Flare. Super Nova at a distance of 10 light years from us. The Moon drifting away(predictable but millions of years in the FUTURE). Major Climate Shift to name but a few.

All things are possible! The only thing that gets us through a day is subconsciously calculating probabilities - probably not.

There is always the unexpected. though. There could be an undetected asteroid on a collision course (known near miss for 2029); there could be some cataclysmic event that could happen, but these scenarios are improbable in the immediate future.

Of course if you are in a car accident tomorrow and wind up being bug spat, there would be an argument that the end of the world, for you, is tomorrow.

Therefore, for some people the world will end in 2012.

The beginning and the end of this world and universe has been clearly set out in the Bible by the Creator of it. No use to get scared and all worked up by tales people [even the educated] tell. They co not know. Jesus clearly said that nobody knows the hour or the day, only the Father in heaven. et God did clearly tell us what will precede this and those things he mentioned are already happening and has happened. So, dearest, read the Bible and put yours fears to rest. Hope you know Gosd through Jesus Christ.

There's no known scientific reason for the world to end in 2012.

Perhaps there is a asteroid the size of Vesta headed for Earth right now and we just don't know it.

another subscriber to the MAYAN 2012 prophecy. well from the literature I have read, it seems more plausible than the bible. I have read a lot about it, and the core of the universe...

for anyone not sure what this is, do a web search using the words MAYAN and 2012.

prepare for an interesting but deep read.

The world in its physical state is everlasting.

The world did not end with the Y2K.

It is tomorrow in the other side of the world so eventually there is a tomorrow.

what is going to end in 2012 is an ancient Mayan myth and a modern source for speculation and fear.
Officially the world is going to end in the year 4,976,586,132 give or take 500,000,000 years. unless of course us humans are going to arrange for our own local "big bang"
