You need to install a DVD codec. Most DVD-ROMs include software to playback DVDs, but if yours doesn't, you can get VLC, found at http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
This is a great open source DVD/multimedia player, which can play DVDs without a codec.
If you want to play DVDs natively in Windows Media Player or other applications, you'll have to get a full-fledged DVD decoder, which costs money. The DVD corporations charge a licensing fee to use their decoder, so you have to pay. There really isn't one best decoder out there, but I've had good success with WinDVD and PowerDVD. Do a search for either and you should be able to find one that will work.

Your supplier should have given you the drivers/software with your DVD. If not, no need to worry, you can download them from www.updatexp.com/dvd-decoder-media-player-windows.html or www.DvdMovieDecoderPro.com. You can also google search using "dvd decoder". Enjoy the movies.
