"Congressman" usually refers to someone in the House of Representatives, so I'm going to disagree with those Lieberman answers.

The only independent in the House of Representatives right now is Bernard Sanders from Vermont. He did not seek reelection in the House but instead won a seat in the Senate. A Democrat won his current seat so there are no longer any independents in the House (and now two in the Senate)

There were two candidates who won their senate races running as independants but will be counted as Democrats. Bernie Sanders, an avowed socialist, and Joe Lieberman, who was the Democratic VP candidate in 2000 but lost the primary to an anti-war democrat so he was not supported by the Democratic Party..

Liberated? Lieberman Likely to Be Courted by Both Sides.

His election went well and I truly believe he is for what is best and cannot be persuaded.
