I believe when someone says "I love you," they're saying "I would like to be loved."

I don't know but let me say that; Love doesn't change, people do. We love what we know, but then, when the person changes, we freak out because we don't know if we can love this person or not. Important: Love is one of those things that we want to believe in, but unless you both are on the same page all the time; how can you grow with each other. If you don't grow with each other, someone gets left behind.

Usually it means some other person who cares, respects, and would do anything for you , is finally stating in words their feelings for you! But sometimes people get carried away, like guys will often say it in the heat of the moment, so if someone does happen to say " i love you", mates so to speak, you will know in your heart of hearts that it is real and not just some random mumbo jumbo words.

Many things...for instance...the person could just be saying it to get something sexually, feeling of closeness to a particular someone, just a simple saying friendship sake, or someone may say it meaning they really like a favorite food, color, etc..

For me it is something I would say to someone I trust with my everything. Has a lot of strength when I say the words back.

Totally depends on the person and the relationship.
It's a little like asking, how high is high?

It means that they love themselves and are extending a gift out to you.

that could be pretty tricky cause when they say they love you...does it mean that they are in love with you?...or do they just love you as a friend get my point.
