Yes, when I was a kid, the other kids dared me to jump in a 10 foot pool and I did, well I went down, I felt my feet touch the bottom and when I struggled to swim back to the surface the Lifeguard was there to pull me out. Then a couple of years ago at the Wave Pool in Dorney Park when I lost my grip from the side and the waves were coming every few seconds, I ended up in the middle of the pool and the Lifeguards had to stop the waves and pull me out. My family still teases me about that. How did I feel? Well, I just remember thinking I guess this must be how it feels to drown, I was not afraid, I just figured my life was over, I could not get my grip, or stand back up.

I did not almost drown but when slid off the huge slide in the swimming pool - it was really high - I landed in the water with such force, I went straight in. I beat all the water and got up finally. I cried after that. Hahaha! I was seven then.

When I was about 13 I had very long hair, past my hips. It got wrapped about my face and I couldn't see which way was up. I was struggling, my lungs were burning. Then suddenly I felt an overwhelming sense of calm. I stopped struggling and floated to the surface of the water. My friends pulled me out and I couldn't help but feel the slightest sense of disappointment that the beautiful feeling of peace was gone.

I used to surf as a young man and in 9th grade(1972) was 2nd place in WGH regional championship in Va Beach.I later joined the Marines and then the Army.I went to combat 5 times in the infantry (Grenada,Junea,Beirut,Panama and Iraq)I passed pre-ranger and went to the Special Forces meeting.I never got in and every summer I got saved by the lifeguard including during the contest I won 2nd place in.Why?I swim like a rock.I love water,I just can't swim well.It feels like a slow awful dream.

Once, when I was 6 I was in the ocean and pulled under by the undertow. You panic and the adrenaline courses through your veins. You try to get to the surface but you just cant. It is like your limbs weigh a thousand tons. Its awful.

I once got stuck under a dock when I was younger at camp. I felt like I was in the water for a long time, when I'm sure it wasn't very long at all. I don't remember being in a panic at all, but I was just a kid.

Yep, don't remember that well pretty long ago. I felt horrible, like my lungs were bursting and I was really weak underwater, so it was difficult to do anything. But lucky for me I got saved pretty quickly.
