Otherwise, the ten points will go to someone who can demonstrate an IQ over 100.

Oh, I'm a liberal, and I admit it. Here's the thing; the ones who switched from voting Republican in 2004 to voting Democratic in 2006 view themselves as independents.

It is 100 % true!

But I got an e-mail from someone that said that I had the "dumbest logic" they had seen when I stated that this afternoon.

People don't really have much faith in the US government right now, and it comes from the whole thing of doing what the money and the party wants, instead of listening to the public. I think the final straw was when it became public that Bush had "misled" people so that we could invade Iraq. The only one with the agenda to do such a thing was the Republican party, and since they controlled things in the government, it was done. Nevermind the fact that people have been griping and stating that they want our troops out of Iraq, since Sadam had been captured, and a government had been put up. But the lines of needing to help the government in Iraq set up. . . And then seeing that it was something that would never be, but no one wanted to listen to the voters. . .

BAM! The sh!t hit the fan, and the voters told the Republicans - and all other elected officials - that if they can't do the job, then someone that CAN and WILL will be put in. It will not matter how charismatic they are, or who they know. It is now going to be based on the job performance and the quality of representation. And it is about darn time!!!!!

Some will truly vote for whomever they feel is the best candidate. I, personally, don't believe in voting for a particular party, but rather the candidate. If the person is a nutcase, I don't care what party they belong to, I'm not voting for that person.

But there are many people who will vote for one party simply because they are tired of the current party in office. It no longer is about what the candidate stands for...but rather what party the candidate belongs to. Many people who vote Democratic and are against the war seem to forget that the Democrats voted in approval of the war. How quickly people forget.... Not to mention that there ARE Republicans against the war, but since they're a part of the Republican party, a dark light has been cast on them. The same goes vice versa. No many listen to the message anymore. They simply look at the party the candidate belongs to and make up their mind. Note, I'm not saying everyone does this.
One of my coworkers was "so glad" a certain candidate didn't get re-elected. But when I asked questions to find out why, it seems the only reason was because of the party she belonged to....nevermind the fact that she did do things and stood for things this individual agreed with whereas the opposing candidate did the opposite.

This is nothing new, however. When people tire of the Republican antics, they vote Democratic. When people tire of the Democratic antics, they vote Republican. And that's why we see so much flip-flopping in offices.

It's a shame, really. We might actually see some positive change in this country if people stopped worrying about party lines and actually listened to the real message.

For whatever reason, One does what one must do for survival reasons.
Republicans ego had to be deflated. So yes, for the first time, I voted straight ticket Democrat just to ensure that Democrats would take over at least in the House of Representatives. And we also took control of the Senate. I believe I was not alone in the straight party vote! It's my right to vote as I please, as well as it is yours to vote as you please.
I lost no points by answering this question.
You lost 5 for asking it. An IQ over 100 would likely tell a person to answer questions rather than ask them.

I say its quite true. It really doesnt matter which party a scamming politician is from. Voters want someone of integrity. If there is a perception of a politician not living up to that then the one of the ways to remove that person is to vote for the opposite party.

I will admit that Im a Democrat but there is a lot of things of the Democratic platform that really offends me. However there are a lot of things of the Republican platform that offends me MORE. Too bad there isnt some sort of middle of the road party.

It was a call for change in the government by people of all political stripes. One of eight Republicans voted Democrat for that reason. People are dissatisfied with the Iraq war, among a host of other issues.

Okay it's true.......it's just time to sweep out all of the dead heads in the Republican party and shake up the house a bit.
Oh, but I'm not a liberal so pass the 10 pts onto someone more deserving....lot's of liberals on this site.

Many indeed did. One reason I have heard some usually republican people give is that the republicans weren't moving on the immigration problem and that they wanted to teach them a lesson. As if this is going to change anything on that issue!

It could possibly be true for the most part. Why do you think Kerry got so many votes? MOST people didn't want Kerry for president, they were just tired of Bush. And many of THOSE watched Fahrenheit 9/11.

call me crazy, but thats how elections ALWAYS ARE.

theres no good politicians, they're all evil. republicans suck, democrats blow. thats how it works. you just pick the ones who'll screw you the least.

and your blatent blanket remarks about democrats just shows how much you're no better than anyone else out there. when anyone speaks about politics and puts their party, or its intelligence above anyone else, they've missed the point entirely. we're supposed to be finding a way to make the country better, but most ppl just spend their time attacking the other side. usually lining their pockets as much as they can along the way.
