that cleaned 6 viruses The other question is, is it alright to down load spyware as one has an anti-virus program on, which I should also say, I already have Mccaffee.
So, if I download a spyone, it will be with the anti-virus one and
McCafee. Is that okay, or is that too much to have on the computer?
The virus cleaner I downloaded is prevx1 which found and than I deleted 6 viruses. thanx now

Hi there,

There really is no need for another layer of protection as Prevx1 is already protecting you from not only viruses, but also spyware, adware, trojans, rootkits, hackers and more.

It is a little known fact that Prevx1 also currently has the strongest protection and removal capabilities of any security suite available today, so I would imagine having Prevx1 and McAfee as your backup will be more than sufficient.

There are a lot of people on here who recommend question askers to load up there systems with 3, 4, 5, or even more security programs which really aren't necessarry. These are most likely people who have AVG, Spybot and Ad-aware installed which are simply not as good programs as they were a couple of years ago (these three used in conjunction are only protecting users from 60% of threats). This is why people then need another couple of programs on top of these, when in reality they should be dropped as they are sub-standard programs.

Hope this helps.

Spyware slows down systems. Anti-viruses slow down systems. Anything that takes up clock cycles slow down systems. Btw, spyware is the bad stuff. There is software specifically designed to get rid of spyware. Some anti-viruses do a good job so it's not necessary.

Well, I think you want to know about anti-spyware, not spyware. Its the anti-spyware which gets rid of spyware, adware, dialers, tracking cookies, trojans(together known as malware) etc. If you have McAfee Internet Security Suite, then it will protect you from viruses as well as malware. However, if you have got only McAfee anti-virus, then you need an anti-spyware. AdAware and Spybot are two good and free anti-spyware available at the moment. Here are their links:
AdAware SE:- http://www.download.com/ad-aware-se-pers...
SpyBot Search and Destroy: http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/spy...

Mccaffee will slow your computer down a lot too.

A lot of the free spyware program go to your cookie folder and flag your cookies at spyware threats. You can delete those from internet explorer without using a spyware program.
