There's a lot of good answers here, but aside from having his tastes changing or possibly teething, have you considered that he might have a sore throat? My son would cry at eating or drinking when he had a sore throat, until my MIL suggested that that was the trouble. I tried a little baby Tylenol about 10 minutes before feeding, and he was much better!

If he's like me, he's probably sick of it and wants to try something else. I'm Chinese so I've been eating Chinese food for the past 23 years straight. So you can imagine how sick I am of it.
As for the teething ideas, it could be. Maybe you should give him a carrot stick (peeled off, and not cut into smaller pieces) to chew on. He'll stop crying from it and it's very healthy for him. As for the dentistry part, I don't have a clue what the consequences might be.

Mine would do that if I didnt give it to him fast enough. Which I am not saying is wrong. I dont know what type of crying it is. But I would say just keep giving it to him if he is eating it... and like the other person said, check the gums. Sometimes thats what happens. At ten months he is likely to start getting teeth or even more teeth if he has some. That might be it!

Besides teething, try giving him regular food you eat such as bread, mashed potatoes, but not spicy food. My 10-month old wants to eat exactly what I am eating and expresses her anger by crying. SHe has 6 teeth already. As Indian vegetables are usually spicy, I give her bits of bread (roti), rice and pulses to eat and chew upon. Tasting new things helps the baby mind to distract away from pain in the gums too.

Don't worry and never force him to eat. he'll start it all over again .Sometimes if he is teething this problem arises or if he is concentrating on standing up by holding and walking his mind is much much deviated into it. My son is 18 months old and he has gone through 4 times the same problem that you described.keep patience everything will come back.

He may have a condition called "thrush" it makes the mouth and tongue sore and the acids in the food may be causing his mouth to burn or sting.
Talk to your pharmacist, they should have something that you can get over the counter. Or call your pediatricain and ask him/her.
Don't give any fruit juices this aggrivates more...you might want to let him lick a popcicle while you hold it to help soothe his little mouth.
