Minimum wage in Kansas is $5.15/hr.

Checked your reference and you're right BUT... did you read the rest of Kansas' info?--

"The State law excludes from coverage any employment that is subject to the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act."--

It means this applies to all jobs EXCEPT those covered by the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act, which is ALL jobs except those such as servers, wait staff... etc. All I know is when I have applied for minimum wage jobs, its always been at $5.15 , Thank God I don't have to do that anymore!

And it states below that this applies only to jobs that are not part of the Federal Fair Labor Act, which minimum wage is a part of. A person working as a waiter/waitress will get the 2.65 because they are not part of the act covered, so the state wage wins out. The federal wage wins out for any other employee earning hourly income.

Kansas minimum wage was more than that 20 years ago. Unless you are talking about waiters or hotel workers or people exempt from the minimum requirement due to tips and such. Might want to do a bit more research on this issue.

The answerer above is right. That sounds like the standard wage for servers, who get tips to make up the difference.

You might want to check again. Federal supersedes State. If you are talking about a food service job, then you are supplemented by tips and that is a whole different ballgame.

Hello..........Federal minimum wage is the law......Kansas can't be excluded here......someone is pulling someone's chain here......minimum wage is over $7.00 now......what's up with the $2.65.......not legal I believe. Unless you are a person who receives tips.
