Unfortunately this is the risk we all take when we go out to eat in a public restaurant.
Ask your server politely and quietly to be seated elsewhere.
Being rude is not the answer.
The woman probably thought she smelled nice..no reason to hurt someones feelings by being loud enough so they can hear.
when a situation like that arises you should move without any fuss and everyone is happy and no one has thier enjoyable night out ruined.

I would politely ask to move as well. Some people, especially the elderly, don't realize their perfumes smell strong because their sense of smell isn't as good as it once was. My grandmother had this problem. We did everything to get her to wear less perfume, and we'd even buy her very light scents. It didn't matter. She'd just pour MORE on!! Ah well. It was the price to pay for having our dear grandma around. I miss her.
Was your friend pregnant? I know that when I'm pregnant, my sense of smell seems to increase 10 times! I can smell things no one else can, and be easily sickened by those smells too.

I, to, am offended by overbearing perfumes. I have been in this situation and have asked to be moved to a different seat. Not only was the manager gracious and moved us to another table, but gave us half off our meal for our inconvenience.

I would have asked to be moved. I know some people pour on the "cricket piss" as my mother used to call it, and the smell gets into my mouth and I can taste it. The stinky woman really should have been moved, but I imagine that would be a sensitive subject or the restaurant to handle.

I would've gotten over it. I am extremely sensitive to smells and get migraines very easily, but who the heck am I to complain about some body's perfume? I may not like it, but oh well, it's their right to wear it. Who knows-they may have hated what you and your friend were wearing!! And if it's that big of an issue, don't go out in public anymore.

I would've approached the waitress and asked to be seated elsewhere with the reason. Unfortunately it is peoples prerogative to marinade themselves in perfume, no matter how disgusting it smells.

I would ask to be moved to another table, and don't be afraid to say why. You have the right to eat in reasonable comfort, just like everybody else in the place.

I would have immediately asked to be moved to another table, and just barely loud enough for the offending woman to overhear my reason.
