This one is tough... but I would have to say that my favorite cowboy of all time is "the Duke". By far, I watched more westerns with John Wayne in them than any other actor. Indeed, my dad watched so many John Wayne movies when I was young, that when my mom was pregnant with my little sister, I wanted to name the baby... "John Wayne." I had to have been his biggest fan for a three year old.
However, I still love many other "cowboys" including: Alan Ladd in Shane (which is my favorite western of all time), Roy Rogers, James Stewart, Dean Martin (a different but unique side of him); and nobody can forget the sidekicks such as: Smiley Burnette, Gabby Hayes, and Jack Elam... westerns wouldn't have been complete without them.

John Wayne or Gene Autry or Roy Rogers or Hop-a-long Cassidy or James Arness(Matt Dillion) or Walter Brennan on the Real McCoys. Course you young whippersnappers wouldn't remember most of these, now would ya?
Yeah Lee Van Cleff was good too.as was Clint Eastwood, make my day
Hey, Muffinman you too young to remember Van Cleff.
And my favorite football Cowboy was Emmitt Smith.(till he went to Arizona)

No one ever beats Clint Eastwood.The studios said he squinted too much and talked too soft to be a good cowboy but he proved them wrong by singlehandedly upsetting the whole world of western movies.Charles Bronson was good in a couple of westerns also.If he had more and better movies Lee Van Cleef(Angel Eyes) could have made a run for number1.

Ohh yea Brisco County Jr is hot! (J.Eddie Peck) Had my pic taken w/ him on my 16th bday. (back when he was on Days of our lives)
But, My "fave" cowboy would have to be my grampa. He was the best!!
